chennai: dr v thiruvalluvan, vice-chancellor of tamil university in thanjavur, has been suspended just weeks before his scheduled retirement on december 12, 2024.dr thiruvalluvan, who assumed office in 2021, was informed of his suspension while attending a program at gandhi village rural university in dindigul. the notification reportedly came from the governor's house. following the announcement, he canceled his engagements and returned to his hometown.the reason for his suspension has not been disclosed.dr. thiruvalluvan boasts 28 years of academic experience, having published five research papers and presented four at national academic events. he has served in key roles, including director, dean of the linguistics department, and registrar. additionally, he was the coordinator of the vice-chancellors' committee at anna university and held positions at the puducherry linguistics-cultural centre.
