Three generations of IIT-M alumni highlight how the institute shaped their entrepreneurial journey

chennai: iit madras hosted a dynamic event featuring three generations of its alumni, each sharing how the institute shaped their entrepreneurial journeys. held on campus by the office of alumni and corporate relations (acr), the "innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in iit madras" event offered students unique insights into the paths taken by iit madras alumni in launching successful ventures.during a panel titled “evolution of entrepreneurship,” five distinguished alumni from various fields discussed how the institute's supportive ecosystem helped launch their entrepreneurial ambitions. panelists included mr. d. chandrasekar, an early entrepreneur and president of the madras dyslexia association; mr. venkat vishwanathan, chairperson of latentview; mr. pradeep gulipalli, co-founder of tiger analytics; mr. kedar kulkarni, ceo of hyperverge; and mr. rajiv c. lochan, md and ceo of sundaram finance.prof. v. kamakoti, iit madras director, lauded the institute's alumni as catalysts for india's start-up aspirations, remarking, “bharat must be a start-up nation to achieve supremacy.” prof. ashwin mahalingam, dean (acr), emphasized the enduring impact alumni have on future innovators, stating that each generation inspires the next through shared success stories.the event also featured a fireside chat with mr. v. shankar, founder of cams, who spoke on resilience and innovation as core tenets of his journey. the gathering concluded with the re-launch of an eye for detail, a book chronicling mr. shankar's career, now available as a podcast series.
