TN Govt announces ₹1 lakh annual assistance for PhD students

chennai: the tamil nadu's department of adi dravidian and tribal welfare has announced a significant educational initiative aimed at supporting higher education among students from marginalized communities. eligibility criteriathis scheme is open to adi dravida, tribal, and converted christian adi dravida students who are residents of tamil nadu and enrolled in full-time phd programs at recognized institutions within the state. income limit: family income must not exceed ₹8 lakh per annum.age limit:male applicants: below 50 yearsfemale applicants: below 55 yearsincentives will only be provided for the duration approved by the university or a maximum of five years.applications must include endorsements from the institution's principal and recommendations from the university registrar.only the current year's application forms will be accepted.applicants must demonstrate satisfactory progress in their research and provide biannual affirmations from their universities. those providing false information will face disqualification and repayment of incentives. unsatisfactory research progress may result in termination of the scholarship.last date to submit completed applications is 31, january 2025, before 5:45 pm to director, directorate of adi dravidian welfare, ezhilagam, chepauk, chennai - 600005.as per the go no. 72, dated september 16, 2024, the government will provide an annual incentive of ₹1,00,000 to 2,000 eligible students pursuing full-time doctoral studies for the academic year 2024-2025.for further details, students are to contact the directorate of adi dravidian welfare.
