TNAU hosts training on GC-MS/MS for Metabolomics
kovai: the tamil nadu agricultural university (tnau), coimbatore, conducted a two-day training on "small molecule identification platforms for metabolomics: gc-ms/ms" on november 27-28, 2024. organized by the centre of excellence in biotechnology (coeb), the event welcomed research scholars and faculty from institutions across tamil nadu.dr. s. mohankumar, coeb project director, emphasized the growing demand for gc-ms in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and food industries. in his inaugural address, coeb director dr. n. senthil highlighted its applications, including pesticide residue detection, environmental pollutant monitoring, space research, and pharmaceutical studies.the training covered theoretical insights, hardware demonstrations, and data analysis tools like amdis, nist, and metaboanalyst. experts, including tnau faculty and technical specialists, guided participants in sample preparation, data acquisition, and software applications for metabolomics research.the program underscored gc-ms's critical role in biostimulant regulation, environmental sustainability, and advancing precision agriculture.
