Youth engagement initiatives garner massive participation
new delhi: the ministry of youth affairs and sports, under the framework of the national youth policy, continues to empower india's youth by driving inclusive growth and fostering responsible governance. during the fiscal year 2023-24, over 4.96 crore young individuals participated in various engagement, experiential learning, and training programs.union minister dr. mansukh mandaviya shared this information in a written reply in the lok sabha, highlighting the ministry's commitment to youth development. these initiatives aim to promote leadership, skill-building, and sports participation, including significant outreach in rural regions.key programs include experiential learning opportunities through the mera yuva bharat (my bharat) portal, which allows youth to "learn by doing." the rajiv gandhi national institute of youth development (rgniyd) has spearheaded skill training programs targeting entrepreneurial and employment opportunities, especially for underprivileged youth in jammu and kashmir.for fy 2024-25, the ministry has allocated ₹1,059.50 crore for youth affairs. major allocations include ₹426 crore for the nehru yuva kendra sangathan and ₹250 crore for the national service scheme (nss). other initiatives, such as the young leaders programme, national youth corps, and the yuva portal, also received substantial funding.this comprehensive approach underscores the government's commitment to harnessing the potential of india's youth for nation-building.
