chennai: the railway police on friday arrested 18 college students for attempting to engage in a clash at chennai central suburban railway station, officials said.authorities have intensified surveillance on suburban trains following frequent clashes involving students. special teams have been deployed to ensure passenger safety.the incident occurred when a group of state college students waiting at platform 12 for a train to gummidipoondi confronted another group from pachaiyappa's college. as tensions escalated, railway protection force (rpf) personnel and railway police intervened and detained all 18 students.despite awareness campaigns, such incidents continue to create panic among passengers, officials added. investigations are underway.
