Boyfriend of RG Kar medical student arrested after her mysterious death in Bengals Malda

kolkata: the boyfriend of a final-year student of r g kar medical college and hospital in kolkata, who died under mysterious circumstances in a malda hospital, was arrested on sunday, police said.the deceased, 24-year-old anindita soren, originally from balurghat in dakshin dinajpur, was admitted to the malda medical college and hospital where she died on saturday.her family lodged a complaint at englishbazar police station accusing her boyfriend, ujjwal soren, a junior doctor at the malda hospital, of poisoning her. ujjwal was named in the fir and picked up from his rented house in englishbazar town, a senior police officer said.anindita's mother, alpana tudu, alleged that ujjwal poisoned her daughter because she had been insisting on registering their marriage, which he was avoiding. she claimed the couple had married secretly at a temple in puri but arguments followed when ujjwal refused legal registration.“when we saw her in the ccu, she was frothing from the mouth,” tudu said, adding that the family received a call from ujjwal about her sudden illness and were informed of her death the next day.police said the autopsy report will determine the cause of death.expressing solidarity, west bengal junior doctor front leader and rg kar trainee aniket mahato said, “we want a fair investigation into the case. the mother's allegations must be probed seriously and whoever is guilty must be punished.”
