British Council host Physical education workshop
chennai: sports can spearhead as multipurpose tool to engage and empower young ones in schools and also to raise standards in all areas of school life, according to experts. 'specific research has shown that the students attendance goes up on days when there is a physical education period. this strongly reveals children interest in sport. the ultimate purpose is to focus not just on academics, but also on enabling children to develop healthy bodies,' said carol lukins of youth sports trust, the uk. the sports expert, carol is in the city to take part in a three-day pilot workshop and interact with primary school physical education teachers of cbse schools. the workshop has been organised as part of a sport development initiative, international inspiration by the british council, uk sport and unicef, in association with the government of india. it will be implemented as a pilot project in cbse schools in chennai and mumbai.
