Childrens Film Festival Launched in Tamil Nadu Schools
tiruppur: the school education department of tamil nadu has launched a children's film festival aimed at introducing quality films to students in government and aided schools. the initiative includes discussions on the films and related issues concerning student welfare.the first film to be screened this academic year is “kurangu pedal”. its director, kamalakannan, highlighted that with the rise of mobile phones and television, children often experience cinema from a limited perspective. he emphasised that exposure to quality films can guide students away from violent content in cinema and video games, while also encouraging the production of more films for children.kamalakannan noted that although children's films are made widely around the world, their production in tamil nadu has been limited due to the smaller market. despite this, “kurangu pedal” is expected to be watched by 16 lakh school students, reflecting a growing interest in children's cinema in the state.the program underscores the state's efforts to make cinema an educational and culturally enriching experience for students.
