villupuram: tamil nadu engineering admissions (tnea) division secretary purushothaman has advised students to select their colleges with utmost care during the ongoing engineering counseling process.addressing students at an engineering counseling awareness programme jointly organised by dinamalar newspaper and chennai institute of technology education corporation in villupuram, he said:“students who have applied for engineering counseling must check their status daily using their user id. counseling will commence on the 27th. colleges and courses will be allotted based on the overall and community-wise rank list, determined by students' cut-off marks.”he urged students to actively participate in all counseling rounds. “if there are discrepancies in the ranks during the first four rounds, they can be rectified by visiting the government engineering college facilitation centers with aadhaar details or by calling the helpline 1800-425-0110. students have a four-day window for this correction.”purushothaman also highlighted that special reservation categories—such as differently-abled students, government school students, children of ex-servicemen, and sports quota students—can avail reservation benefits during counseling.“counseling is a transparent process. there is no need for fear or confusion. students should carefully prioritise colleges and courses using the choice filling option. one must enter as many preferred colleges and courses as possible in order of preference. always check the quality, accreditation, and placement record of the college before making a choice.”he added that after allotment, students should personally visit the selected college, pay the fees, and confirm their admission within the given timeframe.additionally, he noted that students from vocational education streams are entitled to a 2% reservation and will have a separate rank list. “government facilitation centers are available to assist students at every step,” he said, concluding with best wishes for students to choose the best college, study well, and succeed in life.
