JIPMER joins national celebration of 150 years of Vande Mataram
puducherry: the jawaharlal institute of post-graduate medical education and research (jipmer) on friday participated virtually in the nationwide celebration marking the 150th anniversary of the composition of the national song vande mataram.the event, addressed by prime minister narendra modi, highlighted the song's enduring significance in inspiring generations of freedom fighters and reinforcing india's national identity.jipmer director dr. vir singh negi led the institute's participation in the programme, which was streamed live from the campus. faculty members, officers, and staff attended the session commemorating the historic occasion.speaking on the occasion, dr. negi said vande mataram continues to evoke patriotism and a spirit of service, urging citizens to contribute to the nation's unity and progress.the national song, meaning “mother, i bow to thee,” was composed in 1875 and remains a timeless symbol of india's devotion, pride, and resilience.
