chennai: chennai-based edtech platform kruu has raised ₹1 crore in a bridge funding round, boosting its mission to deliver project-based learning and skill-building opportunities to students worldwide. founded in late 2022 by renowned musician and educator anil srinivasan, kruu has quickly emerged as a leading skilling platform, connecting school students with top university professors and industry experts through short, guided projects.with this latest round, kruu has secured a total of $1.25 million in pre-seed and bridge funding to date and has turned revenue-positive within just two years—a rare achievement in the edtech space. the platform currently serves over 470,000 students, including 130,000 paying users, across india, sri lanka, the maldives, and is now expanding into the uae, malaysia, latin america and other global markets.highlighting its distinctive model, kruu combines 3-4-week guided projects with direct mentorship, internships and scholarships, bridging the gap between traditional education and industry-relevant skills. the initiative has attracted corporate partnerships and gained institutional recognition, including a recent endorsement from the department of education, government of the philippines, after kruu showcased its model at an international education conference.commenting on the milestone, founder anil srinivasan said, “kruu has always been about breaking barriers for students and communities. this funding strengthens our resolve to scale responsibly and keep innovating.”with seasoned industry leaders joining its cap table and advisory board, kruu plans a larger funding round later this year to further accelerate its global footprint.
