MoES holds curtain raiser for Earth Science Technology and Innovation Conference 2025 in Chennai
chennai: the ministry of earth sciences (moes), government of india, on friday organised a curtain raiser for the upcoming earth science technology and innovation conference (estic) 2025 at the national institute of ocean technology (niot), chennai. the main event, themed “imagine, innovate, inspire for viksit bharat 2047,” will be held from november 3 to 5 at bharat mandapam, new delhi.the 2025 conference, held under the blue economy theme, aims to highlight the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and marine ecosystem health. the curtain raiser marked the beginning of a series of nationwide engagements leading up to the main conclave.delivering the message of moes secretary dr. m. ravichandran, niot director prof. balaji ramkrishnan commended the department of science and technology (dst) and the office of the principal scientific adviser for conceptualising estic as a platform to showcase india's progress in science, technology, and innovation. he stressed that the blue economy is a key driver of sustainable development, advancing marine research, offshore renewable energy, deep-sea exploration, and ocean-based industries.dr. balakrishnan nair, director, incois, and other speakers, including dr. r.s. kankara (nccr) and dr. m.v. ramana murthy (deep ocean mission), underlined the importance of collaboration across government, academia, and industry to build a resilient ocean economy.the event concluded with the unveiling of a short video outlining india's blue economy vision and the estic 2025 agenda.
