NHRIMH holds national Homoeopathy conference on mental health care during disasters
kottayam: the national homoeopathy research institute in mental health (nhrimh), kottayam, under the central council for research in homoeopathy (ccrh), ministry of ayush, organised a two-day national homoeopathy conference on october 10 and 11 to mark world mental health day 2025.themed “access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies,” the conference brought together experts, researchers, and practitioners from across india to discuss integrative and research-based approaches to mental health care in disaster and emergency situations.addressing the event virtually, dr. subhash kaushik, director general of ccrh, stressed the need to integrate homoeopathy into psychosocial care and post-disaster rehabilitation frameworks supported by scientific research.kottayam district collector chetan kumar meena, who attended as guest of honour, commended nhrimh's contributions to community mental health and emphasized incorporating homoeopathy into disaster response strategies to enhance accessibility.dr. c.t. aravind kumar, vice-chancellor of mahatma gandhi university, inaugurated the conference and highlighted the importance of holistic, person-centred mental health support systems.scientific sessions covered topics such as resilience in crisis, community-based management during hydrological disasters, psychiatric emergencies, and evidence-based homoeopathic interventions for disorders like ptsd, adhd, and schizophrenia.the conference concluded with a valedictory session reaffirming the importance of evidence-based and accessible mental health services, recognizing homoeopathy's complementary role in psychosocial and disaster care.
