NSUI seeks action against DUSU Prez for posing with weapons
new delhi: congress-affiliated national students union of india (nsui) staged a protest at delhi university here demanding action against bringing weapons to the varsity students' union office. the student group also submitted a memorandum to the varsity's dean of students welfare alleging that dusu president amit tanwar had flouted university rules. a photograph of tanwar and few others, showing them "posing" with guns on the varsity premises, had surfaced on social media yesterday, thus kicking up a row. the pictures alleged to be from a 'memorial service' for tanwar's brother, organised in the dusu office, were removed later. tanwar had claimed the guns belonged to "security officers" of one of the guests who had come to pay homage to his "social activist" brother pradeep and that the picture was clicked against his wishes. in the memorandum, nsui also alleged that some du authorities and security officials did not take the complaint of "some armed goons" forcefully entering the dusu office seriously. claiming that the incident had brought disrepute to the university and the union, the students' outfit demanded strict action.
