kevadia (gujarat): union education minister dharmendra pradhan on thursday inaugurated a two-day vice chancellors' conference at kevadia, gujarat, urging higher education institutions (heis) to align their strategies with the panch sankalpa vision of the national education policy (nep) 2020 to realise the national goal of viksit bharat by 2047.the conference, organised by the ministry of education in collaboration with central university of gujarat, is witnessing participation from over 50 vice chancellors of central universities. the event focuses on assessing the implementation of nep 2020 and preparing for the next phase of reforms.pradhan underlined the government's aim to raise the gross enrolment ratio (ger) in higher education to 50% by 2035. he called on universities to act as catalysts in creating future-ready campuses that promote innovation, inclusivity, and a “students-first” approach. “students are the core of our national strength,” he said.he urged universities to prepare a strategy paper for full nep implementation focusing on multidisciplinary education, indian knowledge systems (iks), digital learning, skilling, and innovation. the panch sankalpa vision—next-gen education, multidisciplinary learning, innovative pedagogy, holistic education, and bharatiya ethos—should guide all university reforms, he added.dr. v. joshi, secretary, higher education, said the conference provides an opportunity to reflect on five years of nep implementation. dr. hashmukh adhia stressed the importance of karmayoga principles and iks. additional secretary dr. sunil barnwal emphasised foundational pillars—access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability.the conference includes ten thematic sessions on topics such as future-ready courses, faculty development, research, equity, governance, and internationalisation. participating universities include jnu, university of delhi, visva-bharati, and others.the deliberations aim to shape the roadmap for transforming india's higher education system and advancing the vision of viksit bharat 2047.
