Puducherry to fill 386 MBBS seats under govt quota
puducherry: the puducherry government has finalized the allocation of 386 mbbs seats under the government quota for the academic year, marking an increase of 15 seats compared to last year.a high-level meeting chaired by chief minister n. rangasamy, with participation from health department officials and representatives from private medical institutions, concluded the decision on monday. officials present included health department joint secretary soumya, director sevelu, special duty officer joseph chitra, and representatives from the three private medical colleges.of the total seats, the government-run medical college will allocate 131 out of its 180 mbbs seats for government quota admissions through the centralised admission committee (centac).among the private colleges, bims medical college will offer 70 seats under the government quota — an increase from 57 seats last year. the addition includes 13 seats mandated by a court order in reference to earlier admissions made voluntarily in 2017.manakula vinayagar medical college will allocate 93 seats this year, up from 92 last year, while venkateswara medical college has also raised its contribution from 91 to 92 seats.intotal, the three private colleges — bims, manakula vinayagar, and venkateswara — will provide 255 seats for government quota, up from 240 in 2024.last year, 371 mbbs seats were filled under the government quota. with this year's increase, 386 seats will now be available. centac is expected to release the updated government quota seat matrix shortly.
