Smart windows, rapid food quality test kits among R&D projects on display at IIT-Delhi Open House
new delhi: energy-efficient electrochromic smart windows, rapid food quality test kits, automatic detection and grading of celiac disease, and next-generation gas sensors were among the diverse r&d projects showcased at the 18th open house of iit-delhi on saturday.over 3,500 visitors, including students, teachers, industry representatives, and funding agencies, attended the event to explore the institute's latest innovations. the exhibition featured more than 200 scientific posters, live demos, and 20 laboratories highlighting cutting-edge research across areas such as ai, defence, and national security.iit-delhi director rangan banerjee said the event strengthens partnerships with industry and society while inspiring students to pursue research and innovation. “we hope today's open house will lead to long-term collaborations for mutual benefit,” he said.open house 2025 focused on 10 key themes, including healthcare, manufacturing, industry 4.0, sustainable infrastructure, advanced materials, energy, quantum and semiconductor technologies, ai and data science, and policy research.dean of r&d ashwini agrawal said the event opens iit-delhi's doors to all societal stakeholders, offering young students an opportunity to engage with the institute's vibrant ecosystem.
