Pongal celebrations at Australian Parliament, Canberra

Tamil Arts and Culture Association Inc. (TACA, Sydney) coordinated 6th Pongal celebratioat Australian Federal Parliament, Canberra on 13 February 2024. Australian Federal Government Ministers Hon. Andrew Giles MP, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, Hon. Michelle Rowland MP, Minister for Communications attended and talked about Indian culture and harvest festivals celebrated by the Tamil Community and other Hindu communities.Dr. Andrew Charlton MP, Mr Julian Leeser MP, and Dr. Michelle Anandarajah MP, (firslankan Tamil origin elected to Australian Parliament) attended New High Commissioner of India to Australia, HE Gopal Baglay, attended as a special guest and talked about the Pongal festival.Performances by various Dance Schools made the celebration a colourful event. Canberra Tamil Association, Australian Tamil Cultural Society, ACT, Kamban Kazhagam Australia and many other organisations supported the celebration.
