An Unforget Incidence 2005. My second daughter's marriage was also fixed at Thanjavur for it will be convenient for all the relatives to attend. We went by Rock fort Express a day in advance. It was my fate I chained only two travel bags, leaving one suit case unchained beside the lower berth. When devil purports any evil against man first perverts his mind. We had upper berths in AC 2 tier coach. “Can we exchange lower berth” asked my wife. “But there wasn't anybody in the lower berth to exchange it with” I said, “Somebody could come at other stops.” As we were all too tired we went asleep as soon as the train started. After a sound sleep I woke up around 5'O clock to find out the suit case missing that contained thirteen silk saris for the reception, wedding and other functions for the bride and her mother - costing to the tune of Rs.75000. Thank God who saved us the loss of entire family jewellery those were in two other travel bags I had chained. We were one of many victims of train theft cases those days and one out of three cases in the same train on that particular day itself. Ironically, we were taken to the police station for elaborate enquiry on the details of items lost and filing a complaint took two hours. Bad news travels fast. We were flooded with numerous phone calls. We had to arrange money for buying new saris. There were friends indeed, to tide over the crisis. Life is a combination of human endeavour and fate. We endured the sudden shock with dignity and courage. Still, this incidence gave us a fine opportunity to see the real face of some. Smile and the world smiles with you cry and you cry alone.
