"Tamil medium students too can pursue CA": Arun
chartered accountancy (ca) is often seen as a prestigious profession offering attractive career prospects and high earning potential. yet, many students, especially those from tamil-medium backgrounds, hesitate to take up the course due to perceived language barriers. experts emphasize that such fears are unfounded."ca is not a difficult course and can be pursued successfully by tamil-medium students too," says arun, a member of the south india regional council of the institute of chartered accountants of india (icai). "the exams focus solely on technical knowledge and talent, not the medium of instruction."established by a central government agency, icai is the governing body for the profession in india. despite the country's vast population nearing 150 crores, there are only around 4.10 lakh registered chartered accountants. with an annual demand of 15 lakh cas, the opportunities in this field are immense.the ca journey begins with the foundation course, followed by the intermediate and final exams. if a student fails in any one subject, they must reappear for all subjects in that group. after clearing the intermediate level, students must undergo two-and-a-half years of training under a practicing auditor, during which they receive a stipend.one of the most encouraging aspects of the course is its affordability. unlike many professional courses, ca requires no major financial investment. more importantly, the financial rewards are substantial—annual incomes can range from ₹10 lakh to ₹30 lakh, with top professionals earning as much as ₹35 lakh a month.with determination and consistent effort, students from any background—including tamil-medium schools—can find success in the ca profession.thus arun, member, south india regional council, icai spoke at 'vazhikatti' program of dinamalar.
