160 km wide crater discovered on the moon by Pragyan Rover
new delhi: chandrayaan-3's pragyan rover has discovered a massive 160 km-wide crater on the moon's surface.the indian space research organization's (isro) chandrayaan-3 mission saw the vikram lander successfully touch down on the moon's south pole on august 23, 2023.weighing 26 kg, the pragyan rover, resembling a six-wheeled remote-controlled vehicle, roved across the lunar surface conducting detailed surveys. with this successful landing, india became the fourth country, after the soviet union, the usa, and china, to achieve a lunar landing.the data and images sent back by the rover are currently being analyzed by scientists. as part of this analysis, a 160 km-wide crater was discovered near the moon's south pole.this significant finding was shared by researchers from the physical research laboratory in ahmedabad.the crater, detected during the rover's exploration of 350 km of lunar terrain, has sparked global excitement among the scientific community.
