Akshaya Patra and BW LPG India to partnership supporting Mid-Day Meals Nationwide

chennai: the akshaya patra foundation has expanded its partnership with bw lpg india, the country's largest operator of very large gas carriers (vlgcs), to bolster mid-day meal programs and improve educational outcomes for children in government and government-aided schools across india.since 2023, bw lpg india has served as the energy partner for akshaya patra, supplying energy for nine centralized kitchens in andhra pradesh and uttar pradesh, enabling the distribution of 12 million meals to over 2,200 schools. this expanded alliance now includes three additional kitchens, aiming to provide 42.7 million meals in the 2024-25 fiscal year. bw lpg india has also funded the construction of dining sheds in bikaner, rajasthan, and is supporting the installation of environmentally friendly, lpg-powered kitchen equipment in odisha.inaddition to mid-day meals, bw lpg india contributed inr 20 lakhs to flood relief efforts in assam, supplying 1,667 families with essential sustenance. plans are underway for a pilot project in odisha, converting a kitchen's boiler system from briquette to lpg for enhanced clean cooking.this strengthened collaboration, effective through march 2026, underscores both organizations' commitment to using sustainable technology and resources to improve children's nutrition, education, and overall well-being nationwide.
