chennai: daimler india commercial vehicles (dicv) has launched a cutting-edge mechatronics lab at its oragadam facility, designed to revolutionize software architecture verification and validation for its commercial vehicles. the lab promises a 70-80% reduction in costs, significantly speeding up the testing process from weeks to days. using agile methodologies, the lab enables rapid identification of software bugs, enhancing both quality and efficiency.the lab will play a pivotal role in developing and validating software for dicv's trucks and buses, ensuring they meet global safety standards and future regulations. it can verify around 300 features and over a thousand signals in just 10 days, streamlining product development. the infrastructure includes pre-production verification and an adas setup, allowing the lab to replicate on-road data, reducing the need for multiple test vehicles.dicv's president of product engineering, pradeep kumar thimmaiyan, emphasized the lab's role in driving innovation and keeping the company at the forefront of technological advancements. this new facility reflects dicv's commitment to "make and develop in india, for india and the world" and positions the company as a leader in safety, efficiency, and advanced vehicle technology.
