namakkal: tamil nadu adi dravidar welfare minister mathivendhan highlighted the educational benefits of reading books during his address at the 3rd book festival held at kongu vellalar wedding hall, paramathi salai, namakkal corporation. the event, presided over by collector uma, was attended by mp rajesh-kumar, mla ramalingam, corporation mayor kalanithi, and sp rajeskannan.inhis speech, minister mathivendhan emphasized that reading books enriches one's vocabulary and improves communication skills. he noted that books provide an opportunity to converse effectively, speak confidently in public, and experience positive changes in thoughts and actions. he further added that the chief minister of tamil nadu encourages the practice of gifting books instead of material items, as books cultivate wisdom and self-improvement. the minister pointed out that even prisoners who read books during their incarceration emerge wiser upon their release. he urged the public to cultivate a habit of reading for personal growth and development.the event was also attended by deputy mayor bhupathi, tani dro saravanan, district women's project director selvarasu, district principal education officer maheshwari, and other government officials.
