North-East, a jewel of Indian culture, key to developed India: Amit Shah

new delhi: union home minister amit shah on tuesday described the north-east as a "priceless jewel" of indian culture, emphasizing its rich heritage and vital role in india's development. addressing the north-east students' & youth parliament, organized by the students' experience in inter-state living (seil), shah said prime minister narendra modi has prioritized the region in every government initiative.he highlighted the government's efforts in bringing peace, citing 12 agreements that led to over 10,000 insurgents surrendering and reintegrating into the mainstream. he also noted a 70% decline in violence-related incidents since 2014.by 2027, all north-east state capitals will be connected by rail, air, and road, reducing both physical and emotional distances, shah said. he added that ₹90,000 crore has been invested in road infrastructure, along with major projects in railways and aviation.shah stressed that under the modi government, the north-east has witnessed economic growth, improved connectivity, and strategic investments, ensuring local employment opportunities. he praised seil's efforts in fostering national unity and urged youth organizations to contribute to india's progress.
