TN student wins national-level UPU letter writing competition

chennai: aathira am, a class 9 student from bharani vidhyalaya senior secondary school, karur, tamil nadu, has won the first prize in the national level of the upu international letter writing competition for young people 2024. organized by the universal postal union, the competition's theme was: “at 150 years old, the upu has served people around the world for more than eight generations. write a letter to future generations about the world you hope they inherit.”a total of 30,290 entries were received nationwide. tamil nadu students a. amrith roshaan of shree saraswati vidhyaah mandheer school, mettupalayam, and k. saravana priya @ abarna of sri sankara vidhyalaya, puducherry, secured second and third places, winning ₹10,000 and ₹5,000, respectively.smt. mariamma thomas, chief postmaster general, tamil nadu circle, awarded aathira a ₹50,000 cheque at the tanapex chennai valedictory function on february 1, 2025.
