44 Government Polytechnics to Become Centres of Excellence; MoU Signed for ₹2,509 Crore

chennai: the tamil nadu government has signed a memorandum of understanding (mou) with tata technologies to transform 44 government polytechnic colleges into centres of excellence (coes) at an investment of ₹2,509 crore.new buildings have been constructed for government arts and science colleges in vadalur (cuddalore), senchi (villupuram), natrampalli (tirupattur), jayankondam (ariyalur), and manalmedu (mayiladuthurai). chief minister m.k. stalin inaugurated these facilities, built at a cost of ₹59.9 crore, through video conference.as part of the state's initiative to align technical education with industry 4.0 standards, 44 government polytechnics will be upgraded with advanced infrastructure and new-age training facilities. the mou between tata technologies and the directorate of technical education (dote) aims to modernise campuses, introduce industry-aligned vocational curricula, enhance faculty training, and improve student employability.the agreement was signed in the presence of chief minister stalin. the collaboration is expected to strengthen industry-academia linkages and equip students with skills relevant to emerging sectors.higher education minister k. ponmudi, chief secretary shiv das meena, higher education secretary d. karthikeyan, directorate of collegiate education commissioner s. sundaravalli, and director of technical education innocent divya were among the officials prese
