Armed forces mark International Yoga Day in Chennai
chennai: the armed forces observed the 11th international day of yoga with a large-scale event at the ins adyar beach front in chennai on saturday.around 500 personnel from the indian army, navy, air force, coast guard, the paramilitary cisf, and ncc cadets participated in the yoga session, which highlighted this year's theme, 'yoga for one earth, one health', and showcased the spirit of jointness among the tri-services and security forces.lieutenant general karanbir singh brar, pvsm, avsm, general officer commanding, dakshin bharat area, joined officers, troops, families and children in performing yoga asanas and surya namaskar under the guidance of renowned instructor shivaji patil and other trainers affiliated with art of living.speaking to reporters after the event, lt gen brar underlined the significance of yoga in building physical fitness and mental resilience among soldiers as well as civilians. he noted that the integrated approach of the armed forces, demonstrated during joint operations such as operation sindoor, extends to promoting wellness practices like yoga.the defence forces have incorporated yoga into their regular training schedules, recognising its value in enhancing overall well-being and operational readiness.international yoga day, observed globally for over a decade, celebrates india's ancient tradition that fosters harmony of mind and body.
