CISFs Great Indian Coastal Cyclothon concludes at Kanyakumari

kanyakumari: the central industrial security force (cisf) successfully concluded its mega event, “the great indian coastal cyclothon”, at kanyakumari, marking the completion of a 6,553-km journey spanning 11 states and union territories in 25 days. the event, themed “surakshit tat, samriddh bharat” (secure coast, prosperous india), witnessed participation from over 1,200 cyclists and garnered the support of 2.5 crore people nationwide.the grand finale, held near the vivekananda rock memorial and thiruvalluvar statue, was graced by cisf director general and attended by a large crowd. the cyclothon was flagged off virtually by union home minister amit shah on march 7 from the cisf regional training centre in thakkolam, tamil nadu. a total of 125 cisf personnel, including 14 women, undertook the expedition, engaging with 58 coastal communities.the initiative aimed at fostering collaboration with coastal communities, recognizing them as “tat praharis” (sentinels of the coast). public awareness campaigns highlighted security threats such as smuggling, illegal infiltration, and environmental concerns. major coastal cities, including mumbai, visakhapatnam, chennai, and kochi, hosted receptions, amplifying the cyclothon's message.the event witnessed participation from dignitaries, sports icons like neeraj chopra and ms dhoni, and film stars such as rajinikanth and mohanlal. over 30 lakh people actively engaged in rallies and cultural programs, strengthening security cooperation between cisf and coastal communities.
