GCTs class of 2000 marks Silver Jubilee with nostalgia and generous contribution

coimbatore: two and a half decades after stepping out of its classrooms, the class of 2000 from government college of technology (gct), coimbatore, returned to their alma mater on saturday to mark their silver jubilee reunion with a mix of nostalgia, gratitude and camaraderie.the reunion, held on the college campus, witnessed emotional reunions, recollections of student life, and renewed bonds among batchmates — many of whom were visiting after 25 years. the event celebrated the journey of the first graduating batch of the millennium, revisiting hostels, lecture halls and landmarks that shaped their formative years.“reunions like these remind us where we came from,” said subadhra sridharan, one of the organisers. “gct shaped not just our careers, but our values and relationships. it continues to be a part of who we are.”as part of the celebrations, the batch collectively contributed ₹20 lakh to the institution, a gesture of gratitude towards the college that laid the foundation for their professional and personal growth. the amount will be routed through the gct alumni association to support select projects aimed at enhancing student development on campus.the event also included interactions with former and current faculty members, tributes to mentors, and sharing of experiences that span continents and industries.established in 1945, government college of technology, coimbatore, remains one of tamil nadu's premier engineering institutions, with a distinguished alumni network contributing to sectors across the globe.
