NMDC signs MoU with IIT Kanpur to boost cybersecurity, digital technologies

new delhi: state-owned iron ore major nmdc on friday signed a memorandum of understanding (mou) with the indian institute of technology (iit) kanpur to strengthen cybersecurity systems and promote the adoption of advanced digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (ai) and machine learning (ml), across its operations.the mou was signed by nmdc executive director (digital transformation) satyendra rai and iit kanpur dean (r&d) prof ashoke de in the presence of iit kanpur director prof manindra agrawal and senior officials from both sides.under the partnership, nmdc and iit kanpur will collaborate in areas such as cybersecurity risk assessment, governance and compliance support, ai and ml integration, security operations and incident response, capacity building and joint research and innovation.the two institutions will also jointly conduct training programmes, undertake research projects, run pilot initiatives and co-develop proof-of-concept solutions.nmdc chairman and managing director amitava mukherjee said the collaboration would help strengthen the company's digital defences, enhance operational intelligence and build a secure, future-ready technological foundation.he said the mou reflects nmdc's commitment to becoming a digitally strong mining organisation.
