Notice issued to Chennai school over excessive fees

chennai: the district education officer of chennai egmore has issued a notice to velankanni matriculation higher secondary school, kodungaiyur, over allegations of charging fees exceeding the prescribed limit.parents of plus one students have lodged complaints stating that the school is collecting tuition fees of rs 57,000 along with a rs 10,000 admission fee, which is higher than the tuition fee of rs 32,670 fixed by the private schools fee fixing committee.inresponse, the district education officer has asked the school principal to submit an explanation and relevant documents regarding the fee structure.the notice warns that failure to comply will lead to action under the private schools regulation act, 2023.
