Padma awards 2026: Last date for nominations extended to August 15
new delhi: the ministry of home affairs has extended the deadline for nominations for the padma awards 2026 till august 15, 2025. earlier, the last date was july 31. nominations and recommendations are to be submitted online through the rashtriya puraskar portal at https://awards.gov.in.instituted in 1954, the padma awards — padma vibhushan, padma bhushan and padma shri — are among the country's highest civilian honours. announced annually on republic day, they recognise distinguished and exceptional service across various disciplines including art, literature, education, sports, medicine, science and engineering, public affairs, social work and others.all individuals, irrespective of occupation, gender or background, are eligible, though government servants—excluding doctors and scientists—are not considered.as part of the government's vision to make the padma awards “people's padma”, citizens are encouraged to actively participate in nominating deserving individuals, especially women, sc/sts, differently abled persons and those engaged in selfless service.nominations must include a detailed citation (up to 800 words) outlining the achievements of the nominee. further details, including rules and eligibility, are available on padmaawards.gov.inand mha.gov.in.
