Postal invites candidates for agents to sell PLI

chennai: the department of posts will hold a walk-in interview on august 9, 2025, for the empanelment of direct agents to market postal life insurance (pli) products in chennai.the interview is scheduled to take place at 11:00 am at the office of the chief postmaster, anna road head post office, chennai-600002.applicants must have passed at least class 10 or an equivalent examination from a board recognised by the central or state government. the minimum age for participation is 18 years.eligible categories include unemployed or self-employed educated youth, former life advisors or insurance agents, ex-servicemen, anganwadi and mahila mandal workers, retired school teachers, self-help group functionaries, gram pradhans, and gram panchayat members. candidates with prior experience in selling insurance products, computer literacy, and familiarity with the local area, and those residing in chennai city, will be given preference.applicants currently engaged in life insurance business with other companies are not eligible.candidates must bring original and two photocopies of age, address and educational qualification proofs, along with three recent passport-size photographs.selected candidates are required to furnish a cash security deposit of rs 5,000 in the form of a national savings certificate (nsc) or kisan vikas patra (kvp), pledged to the president of india.officials clarified that the engagement is not an offer of employment with the postal department but an opportunity to serve as a direct agent under irda guidelines. agents will be paid commission or incentives based on the volume of policies procured.
