RRU, Indian Coast Guard sign MoU to boost Maritime security training

new delhi: the rashtriya raksha university (rru), through its school of integrated coastal and maritime security studies (sicmss), has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (mou) with the indian coast guard (icg) to deepen cooperation in maritime law enforcement training, research, and coastal security.the mou was formalised in new delhi by dr. prabhakaran paleri, lifetime professor at rru, and dig inderjit singh of the icg, in the presence of senior coast guard officials, including ig jyotindra singh and commandant n.r. singh. representing sicmss was junior research officer ms. jagrati saraswat.describing the agreement as a milestone, dr. paleri said the partnership marks the coming together of a premier national institution and a vigilant maritime force that has shaped india's maritime security over the past 48 years.rru vice-chancellor prof. (dr.) bimal n. patel termed the mou as a reflection of the shared goal of fulfilling the prime minister's mahasagar vision and enhancing coastal security under the union home minister's leadership. “it symbolises an era of co-created knowledge between academia and maritime forces,” he noted.sicmss director (i/c) ankur sharma highlighted the mou as a continuation of earlier collaborations, including a certified training programme on maritime security conducted in 2024, which received positive feedback from coast guard personnel.the partnership envisages joint research, curriculum design, expert exchanges, and specialised training to bolster national and regional maritime preparedness.
