RRU Puducherry launches certified emergency responder training
puducherry: in a compelling testament to real-world learning, three students from rashtriya raksha university (rru), puducherry campus, sprang into action just hours after completing a certified emergency responder training, helping save the life of an injured woman on the roadside.the incident occurred shortly after the conclusion of a three-day “certified emergency responder” programme held from july 12-14. the training, jointly organised by rru puducherry and the international society for security professionals (issp), is the first of its kind and aims to build a cadre of lifesavers across homes, colleges, and workplaces in india.students deva, sabari, and others assessed the woman's condition, managed bleeding, coordinated with her family, and facilitated ambulance support—demonstrating quick thinking and preparedness. their response drew praise from onlookers and officials alike.the training covered vital skills such as basic life safety, cpr and aed usage, fire safety and evacuation, self-defense, cyber awareness, and crisis leadership. participants also witnessed live emergency simulations conducted by the indira gandhi medical college & research institute (igmcri).the programme concluded with a valedictory function attended by indian coast guard dig dasilla and igmcri director dr. udayashankar, who commended the trainees' readiness.chief instructor john paul manickam said, “we are shaping a national mindset of courage and leadership. every citizen trained is a life potentially saved.”rru's initiative is being seen as the start of a nationwide movement towards creating resilient and responsive communities.
