Tamil Nadu excels in school education, says Govt

chennai: the tamil nadu government on monday said the state has emerged as a leader in providing quality school education in the country, citing the introduction of several new initiatives since 2021.chief minister m k stalin has rolled out schemes to ensure every student in tamil nadu has access to higher education, a government statement said. the newly released state education policy has been welcomed by educationists, it added.high-speed internet has been provided to 28,067 government schools, while the remaining 6,540 schools are in progress. as many as 38 model schools—one in each district—have been established at a cost of ₹352 crore, enabling graduates to secure admission in premier higher education institutions.further, 8,209 high-tech laboratories are being set up in middle, high and higher secondary schools at a cost of ₹519 crore. the state has also constructed 22,931 classrooms at ₹455 crore, benefitting about 16.7 lakh students.inaddition, 79,723 secondary school teachers have been given laptops at a cost of ₹81 crore, the statement said.the government asserted that these initiatives underscore tamil nadu's commitment to inclusive and technology-driven education.
