TN Govt sanctions Rs 7.77 crore to upgrade Sports Medicine Unit at Omandurar Hospital
chennai: the tamil nadu government has sanctioned rs 7.77 crore for upgrading the sports medicine and arthroscopy department at the government multi super speciality hospital in omandurar, an official order said.ina government order issued by health and family welfare secretary p senthilkumar, it was stated that the allocation will be used for purchasing advanced equipment through the tamil nadu medical services corporation.the upgrade, announced in the assembly earlier, follows recommendations from the directorate of medical education. the proposal includes promoting an associate professor in the orthopaedics department to the post of professor and appointing an associate professor from chennai medical college to the omandurar hospital on a replacement basis.six posts, including one for a doctor with an mbbs qualification, will be created on a contractual basis. the order also approves an annual administrative expenditure of rs 25.13 lakh for the unit's functioning.
