TN Minister accuses Governor of obstructing university development
chennai: tamil nadu minister for higher education, govi. chezhiyan, accused governor r.n. ravi of obstructing the development of universities in the state.chezhiyan said the power to appoint university vice-chancellors lies with the state chief minister, a right granted by the previous government, but alleged that the governor continues to block appointments due to personal animosity.he also claimed that the governor has delayed the establishment of a university named after former chief minister m. karunanidhi by sending the files to the president, calling it a tactic to stall progress. the minister added that chief minister m.k. stalin has assured that the karunanidhi university will be established promptly after receiving a court order.highlighting the state's achievements in higher education, chezhiyan said over 47 lakh students have benefited under the “i am the first” scheme, and many are pursuing higher studies under the 7.5 percent reservation. he emphasized that tamil nadu continues to lead in the higher education sector.
