Yoga Sangam to promote One Earth, One Health theme in Chennai on International Yoga Day

chennai: the siddha central research institute (scri), arumbakkam, chennai, will mark the international day of yoga (idy) 2025 with a series of activities under the theme “yoga for one earth, one health.”as part of the government of india's nationwide celebration, scri will host yoga sangam—a synchronized mass yoga demonstration following the common yoga protocol (cyp) at over one lakh locations across the country. in chennai, two key events have been scheduled on june 21, from 7:00 am to 7:45 am, in association with government siddha medical college and bvm global school, perumbakkam.the sessions will include practical demonstrations of cyp and basic yogasanas, along with training on breathing exercises and guidance on integrating yoga into daily routines for preventive healthcare. the initiative aims to encourage the public to adopt yoga for physical and mental well-being.simultaneously, yoga samavesh—another flagship programme of scri—will focus on inclusive sessions for people with diabetes, hypertension, and mental health challenges. senior citizens and the general public will benefit from thematic lectures and yoga demonstrations, highlighting the synergy between yoga and siddha in boosting immunity and preventing non-communicable diseases.inline with the grand national celebration led by prime minister narendra modi at visakhapatnam, scri staff will also conduct early morning yoga in their residential areas to instil daily yoga habits among communities.scri functions under the central council for research in siddha (ccrs), ministry of ayush, integrating traditional knowledge with scientific validation for holistic health promotion.
