‘Zero admission so far in 37 Engineering colleges in TN
chennai: this academic year 2023, out of the total 440 engineering colleges in tamil nadu, 208 colleges have been able to fill only 10 per cent of the available seats in the first two rounds of the counselling.to the surprise of many, 'zero' admissions have been recorded in 37 engineering colleges. in a yet another statistics, just 35, 474 students out of 64, 286 were able to secure seats who were in score brackets of 176.00 to 142. in the previous two rounds of counselling, a total 50,615 of students secured admission.however, the ongoing academic year has witnessed an increased number of students partaking in the first two rounds of counselling, attributed to the reduction of counselling rounds from the previous year. despite this, colleges have reported that the first two rounds have witnessed more successful seat fillings compared to the previous year.recognizing the gravity of the situation, anna university has outlined plans for post-counselling inspections in colleges that have struggled to attract admissions. r velraj, vice-chancellor, anna university told media, "we will inspect the colleges with less than 10% admissions this year. a committee will evaluate the infrastructure within these institutions. colleges with subpar infrastructure and limited faculty members will face appropriate actions."
