ATS Deepavali Maha Kondattam
Austin Tamil Sangam's this year's Deepavali Mahakondattam was held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Liberty Hill High School Auditorium in Liberty Hill, Texas. The event welcomed over 1,500 attendees and was a vibrant celebration of culture, tradition, and community spirit.With the support of the Austin community, Austin Tamizh Sangam proudly presented a $10,000.00donation to Hope House, Liberty Hill, to help build a pergola and outdoor kitchen for the profoundly intellectually disabled residents.The winners of the 2025 Thirukkural Recitation Competition were honored on stage, and our Platinum sponsor, Mrs. Shoba Aiyer, presented awards. During the event, the latest edition of ATS's Austin Aambal Malar - Issue 3 was released by our Platinum Sponsor, Thiru. Prakash Kumar.This year, the prestigious Kalai Magudam Award was presented to writer, actor, and director Thiru. Krishna Sankar. Philanthropist Sam Kumar and Mrs. Hema Kumar endowed the award.The theme for Deepavali Mahakondattam 2025 was “Aimboothangal - The Five Elements.” A total of 37 cultural performances—featuring both local talents and professional artists—brought the theme to life. Performers ranged from ages 3 to 50+, making it a truly memorable celebration.One of the standout presentations was “Aiynthatvam,” where classical dance forms were used to represent the five elements: Odissi - Water, Kathak - Fire, Bharathanatyam - Wind, Mohiniyattam - Earth, Fusion - Aether (Space). The event also featured a mesmerizing live orchestral performance by 30+ young musicians.The evening concluded with a delicious feast, and all guests received thoughtful return gifts, including a 2026 monthly calendar and a snack box with sweet and savory treats provided by Sri Annapoorna Pure Veg Restaurant, Austin.A heartfelt thanks to all performers, attendees, sponsors, and especially our dedicated volunteers, without whom this event would not have been possible.
