CSIR-SERC, CMC celebrate International Womens Day

chennai: international women's day was celebrated at csir-structural engineering research centre (csir-serc) and csir-madras complex (cmc) from march 8 to 20, concluding with an event on thursday.dr. purnima jalihal, scientist g, niot, and smt. hema chandrasekhar, senior vp, northern trust corporation, were the chief guests.dr. n. anandavalli, director, csir-serc, highlighted the contributions of women and the progress toward gender parity, noting that 25% of csir-serc's scientists are women.dr. jalihal spoke on ocean energy and desalination projects, sharing her journey as a woman scientist. smt. hema emphasized the importance of resilience and self-support in achieving goals.the event featured talks, competitions, and discussions in line with the 2025 theme, accelerate action.dr. p. kamatchi and dr. s. vijayalakshmi coordinated the event, while smt. a. mercy latha proposed the vote of thanks.
