President Murmu addresses AIIMS Delhi convocation
new delhi: president droupadi murmu on friday addressed the 49th annual convocation of aiims new delhi, emphasizing the institute's role in advancing healthcare and medical education. union health minister jagat prakash nadda was also present at the event.speaking at the ceremony, president murmu lauded aiims for setting benchmarks in medical research and education. “aiims is a running laboratory of the gita's karmayoga and a proud made-in-india success story,” she remarked, urging graduates to serve the nation with dedication. she stressed the need for aiims to foster inclusivity, optimize resources, and maintain excellence.highlighting healthcare challenges, she noted the increasing life expectancy and rising lifestyle diseases. she urged aiims faculty to lead mental health awareness campaigns and advocated gender equality in healthcare protocols. she also appreciated aiims for integrating modern medicine with traditional indian healing practices.union minister nadda commended aiims for securing top ranks in the nirf medical category since 2018. “aiims has pioneered ai-driven diagnostics and robotic surgery, achieving milestones like dual kidney transplants and renal auto-transplants,” he stated. he encouraged graduates to drive innovation and uphold aiims' ethos in new institutions.during the convocation, 1,886 degrees were conferred, including 77 ph.ds. and 312 b.sc. degrees. eight doctors received the lifetime achievement award, and several students were recognized with medals and prizes.senior aiims officials, faculty members, and students attended the event.
