madurai: self-confidence, sustained effort and continuous practice are essential for achieving success in life, former american college principal muthuraja said at a seminar in madurai on sunday.addressing a programme on “enhancing employability for national cadet corps (ncc) students” at thiruppalai yadava college, he stressed that students must acquire competent education and employment-oriented skills to secure suitable career opportunities. “students should wholeheartedly learn the skills connected to their field of study. subject knowledge alone is not enough; language proficiency, the ability to question and debate, effective communication, and familiarity with computer-based technologies are vital for today's job market,” he said.muthuraja noted that the rapid shift towards technology-driven workplaces requires students to constantly update their capabilities. he added that honing communication and analytical abilities would help candidates perform better in interviews and competitive examinations.emphasising inclusive growth, he urged economically disadvantaged students to fully utilise the educational support, training for competitive exams, and employment schemes offered by both the central and state governments. these initiatives, he said, can significantly improve the prospects of first-generation learners and students from marginalised backgrounds.students from various schools and colleges in madurai participated in the seminar, which focused on preparing ncc cadets for emerging employment opportunities and developing leadership qualities. faculty members highlighted the importance of discipline, service orientation and physical fitness—core attributes of ncc training—in shaping confident and job-ready youth.
