17 crore jobs created under Modi rule in 10 years: Mansukh Mandaviya to Parliament

new delhi: india generated 17 crore jobs during the 10 years of the modi government, a sharp rise from 3 crore in the previous decade of upa rule, parliament was informed.answering a starred question in the lok sabha, labour & employment minister mansukh mandaviya said, “about 10 crore employment generation is recorded in the last 10 years during the modi government... if we work (compare) ten years of upa rule, then only 3 crore jobs were created. we don't say it on our own — it is rbi data.”he said the reserve bank of india has been releasing annual employment generation data since independence.mandaviya also told the house that in the last 16 months, the centre provided jobs to 11 lakh youth.“modi ji has not only created employment but also has a work plan for the next five years to create jobs… at the beginning of modi 3.0, pm viksit bharat rozgar yojana was announced to create over 4 crore jobs with an outlay of rs 2 lakh crore. we are getting good results from this scheme,” he added.the employment-linked incentive scheme, pm viksit bharat rozgar yojana (pmvbry), rolled out from august 1, 2025, aims to incentivise job creation across the country.approved by the union cabinet chaired by prime minister modi, the scheme has an outlay of rs 99,446 crore and targets over 3.5 crore jobs in two years — including 1.92 crore for freshers.the benefits apply to jobs created between august 1, 2025 and july 31, 2027.part a of the scheme targets first-time employees, offering a one-month epf wage up to rs 15,000 in two instalments for workers earning up to rs 1 lakh. the first instalment is paid after six months of service, the second after 12 months and completion of a financial literacy programme. a portion of the incentive will be kept in a savings instrument for later withdrawal.part b incentivises employers with up to rs 3,000 per month for each new employee retained for at least six months — extended to the third and fourth years in manufacturing.establishments registered with epfo must hire at least two additional employees (if they employ fewer than 50 people) or five (if they employ 50 or more) on a sustained basis.payments to employees under part a will be made through dbt using the aadhaar-based system, while payments to employers under part b will go directly into their pan-linked accounts.
