berlin: tamil nadu chief minister m k stalin on tuesday said his government had allocated ₹1.25 crore to sustain tamil studies in europe, describing it as a matter of pride for the dravidian model administration.stalin, who is on an official visit to germany and the uk to woo investors, shared details on social media about his visit to the tamil department library at the university of cologne in germany. the department, which houses 40,000 rare tamil books, including ancient manuscripts and first editions, had faced the threat of closure, he said.“to prevent the closure of this important centre for tamil studies, our government sanctioned ₹1.25 crore immediately after assuming office,” stalin wrote on x. “it was heartening to see that the support was well utilised, preserving tamil heritage abroad.”he added that the cologne library reflects the state's broader vision to develop major libraries as knowledge hubs in coimbatore and tiruchirappalli, following similar initiatives in chennai and madurai.the city of cologne, which stalin visited, is among germany's oldest cities with a history spanning over 2,000 years.
