Distance emerges as top factor as Delhi schools upload nursery admission criteria for 2026-27
new delhi: as private schools in delhi began releasing their nursery admission criteria for the 2026-27 academic session on friday, proximity to the school emerged as the most weighted factor, with some institutions assigning up to 55 points out of 100.indraprastha international school in dwarka has allotted 55 points to applicants living within 0-12 km, 45 points for those residing 12-15 km away, and 35 points for distances beyond 15 km. sibling, alumni, and staff ward categories carry 15 points each. tagore international school in east of kailash assigned 50 points for children living within 4 km or in areas covered by school transport, and additional points for first-born children, siblings, alumni, and staff wards.sudha acharya, principal of itl international school, dwarka, said the school's criteria will similarly focus on distance, siblings, alumni, and staff wards. “proximity remains the most practical factor, and giving weightage to siblings and alumni strengthens long-term family associations with the school,” she said.the directorate of education (doe) has notified the full admission schedule: application forms will be available from december 4, with the first list of selected candidates released on january 23. the process is set to conclude on march 19, with all schools required to upload admission criteria, applicant points, and details of selected students. schools must comply with the rights of persons with disabilities act, display point distribution publicly, and ensure transparent conduct of any draw of lots. only a non-refundable registration fee of ₹25 may be charged; capitation fees and compulsory prospectus purchases are prohibited.
