new york: mehul goswami, 39, an indian-american government employee from latham, new york, has been arrested on charges of grand larceny for allegedly holding a second, full-time job while being paid for his official state duties, authorities said.the saratoga county sheriff's office and the new york state inspector general's office said goswami is accused of working simultaneously for the town of malta and remotely for the new york state office of information technology services, allegedly resulting in theft exceeding usd 50,000 from the state.he faces charges of grand larceny in the 2nd degree, a class c felony, which carries a maximum prison term of 15 years and a fine of up to usd 15,000 or double the financial gain.new york state inspector general lucy lang said goswami's conduct represented “a serious breach of trust” and an abuse of public resources, including taxpayer funds. she added that her office will continue to hold accountable those undermining public service integrity.goswami was arraigned in malta town court and released on his own recognisance pending further proceedings. sheriff michael h. zurlo said authorities anticipate a successful resolution of the case in court.
